Sheffield Central needs a fresh start with an MP who works for YOU.
From meeting so many local people as I go around the constituency, it's clear that people want a change. Whether through knocking on doors, helping local people with problems, or just meeting people in my neighbourhood, so many people have told me they want a new kind of MP: a fresh start that puts people and Sheffield first. You have also made it clear, just like me, that you are angry with some MPs who have used taxpayers' money for extravagent expenses. The duck houses, moats and helipads have provoked outrage - and rightly so. Those who have met me will know I am an ordinary person with a humble background. I grew up on a council estate just like many in our area. Before getting my qualifications I worked for two years digging roads. Already as leader of the local council, long before the MPs' expenses scandal, I had voted to give myself a £1,000 pay cut on what I would otherwise have received. I know what it's like to struggle on a small budget. That's why I will always treat taxpayers' money with respect. And that's why I will always put local people and Sheffield first if you elect me as your new MP.
Paul's Pledge to YOU1) To fight to give YOU - the voter - the right to sack failing MPs. 2) To publish ALL my expenses online - I already do this as a local councillor. 3) To fight for a more open, transparent, and democratic system in Parliament. 4) To call for the powers of government to be cut down and for more power to be given to local people. 5) To champion a fairer voting system and an end to safe seats for life. I know from seeing and speaking to so many of you, this is what you want too. I will do my best to ensure together we can make this happen.
