Will Sheffield's MPs support 10:10?1.40.43pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 20th Oct 2009
Councillor Paul Scriven, Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for Sheffield Central, is calling on all of Sheffield's MPs to cut carbon emissions by 10% in a crucial Parliamentary vote on Wednesday. Paul is urging Sheffield's Labour MPs to support the Liberal Democrat motion to sign up both Parliament and the Government to the 10:10 pledge to cut carbon emissions by 10% by the end of 2010. Paul Scriven said: "Lib Dems on Sheffield City Council have already pledged to support the 10:10 campaign. There's clearly huge momentum behind this campaign - but we could achieve so much more with the support of all of Sheffield's MPs. "We don't yet know how Sheffield's Labour MPs will vote, but you can urge them to step forward make a difference. "We want to cut carbon emissions by 10% across the whole public sector, starting right now. It could be the thing that makes the difference between a sustainable future and global catastrophe. I urge everyone in Sheffield to get behind this campaign."
