Paul Scriven calls for 10p tax relief12.02.58pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 7th Jul 2009
Paul Scriven, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary campaigner for Sheffield Central, is calling on local Labour MPs to back today's amendment on the 10p tax rate. The Liberal Democrats are backing an amendment that will ensure that no-one is worse off due to Gordon Brown's scrapping of the 10p starter rate of tax. Paul Scriven said: "There is a real chance that this amendment will pass - but it will need Labour MPs to vote for it. It's time local Labour MPs stood up for their constituents, many of whom lost out thanks to Gordon Brown's decision to scrap the 10p rate." "I'm hoping the amendment will be successful, and that as many Sheffield MPs will vote for it as possible."
